The 2022 Torralba de Calatrava Carnival has left a very good taste in the town's mouths. The Chirigotas Contest and the seniors' party put the final touch on the Don Carnal festivities this weekend.The Councilor for Celebrations, Luis Blanco, has made a very positive assessment of this carnival and has highlighted that “they have been very participatory festivities, which have made people of all ages enjoy themselves with due caution and have allowed us to take up another plot more of normality.”

Also this weekend the Day Center hosted the party dedicated to the elderly, who were able to enjoy the performance of the New Generation Duo that performed songs of different styles making the attendees dance. After that, all the adults enjoyed a chocolate and cake. Councilor Luis Blanco has also made reference in his assessment to the day dedicated to the little ones. The boys and girls enjoyed the playground installed in the Plaza de la Villa, where there was a wide variety of inflatables and games.
Also notable was the Monday afternoon of Carnival, dedicated to the street mask, “symbol and insignia of the Torralbeño Carnival, which we want to maintain and even enhance as one of our hallmarks,” indicated Blanco, who pointed out that this year there have been the collaboration of local associations and there have been many people who took to the streets wearing rags from the back of closets and trunks to keep this tradition alive. At the end of the parade, participants were able to enjoy delicious chocolate and churros offered by the City Council.
Regarding the burial of the sardine, there was also more participation than expected. In rigorous mourning, numerous Torralbeños wanted to accompany Doña Sardina in her last moments.
